Driving in Halifax is about as bad as driving in Winnipeg. No wait, it's worse. Squirrelly narrow streets. All of a sudden, your lane is right turn only. No apparent patterns or order. What a nightmare but we did it.
Our "hotel" at Mount St. Vincent University, included a full breakfast in the student cafeteria. Whatever you wanted: eggs, toast, pancakes, cereal, etc. Such a good deal. The campus is beautiful. A nice view out of our windows.
We did make it to downtown Halifax. Visited the Citadel first off and went on a tour and watched the firing of the cannon. They've fired off a cannon every single day in Halifax since, like, the 1860s or something.
Managed to park and walk around a tony shopping area. Cute little bistro for lunch. Public gardens... fabulous.
Tried to walk to the waterfront, but way too steep going down... that is... we really began to worry about going back up. We moved the car. Parking is a bit sketchy.
The waterfront is lovely. We watched a tall ship dock. Walked around. By now though, we're very tired. The weather was quite hot. We made the 10 minute squirrelly drive back to our place and had a rest. Did a little research and found the restaurant (we're pretty sure) that Damon was talking about. Made the squirrelly drive back and had a fabulous seafood meal.
We would have gone back to the waterfront to walk around some more, but we could NOT find a place to park and I was tired of going around and around the narrow streets. We went to the Sobeys instead. Yep.
